(Rock Island, IL) -- A woman from the Quad Cities, that police say hid her son's body in the family's garage after an accidental shooting, is going to prison.

Thirty-eight year-old Sushi Staples of Rock Island, Illinois is sentenced to two years in jail after pleading guilty to child endangerment.

Police say 10 year-old Zion Staples shot himself with a gun stored in a closet that was usually locked, when his mother wasn't home, in December 2022.

They say she hid his body for five months before police received an anonymous tip last July.
