(Moline, IL) -- A 140-percent increase in crashes in the past five years is resulting in a change at a major Quad Cities intersection.
Starting March 11th, drivers will no longer be able to turn right-on-a-red from 41st Street on to John Deere Road in Moline.
The Illinois DOT says a review of the crashes showed many were rear-enders occurring in the right-turn lanes. Drivers looking left to check for approaching traffic before turning right on red lights were rear-ending cars ahead of them that decided not to turn.
