(Rock Island, IL) -- An Illinois State Police officer's patrol car was hit on Interstate 280 by a semi driver who didn't follow the Move Over Law.

Illinois State Police say on Wednesday, March 13 around 7:30 a.m. an ISP squad car was parked on the right shoulder of Interstate-280 eastbound near milepost 13.5 with its emergency lights on, assisting a stopped driver.

The trooper was sitting inside the car when it was then sideswiped by a truck-tractor semi-trailer.

The truck driver failed to stop and continued driving eastbound.

The trooper's car was drivable, allowing the trooper to follow the truck where a traffic stop then took place near milepost 15.

No injuries were reported.

The truck driver, identified as 65-year-old Mark V. Powell of Columbus, Ohio, was cited for violating the Move Over Law-Failure To Yield To Stationary Emergency Vehicle.
