(Iowa) -- Financial aid awards for students at Iowa's universities are still delayed.

Tim Bakula, Director of Financial Aid at the University of Northern Iowa says the messaging out of the Department of Education indicates that the first half of March is when all colleges nationwide would be receiving their first batch of Institutional Student Information Records (ISIR) or FAFSA results.

Mid-March is at least two weeks behind normal nationwide.

He says the late financial aid awards from FAFSA will give parents and students less time to make decisions about college offers.

Bakula says the FAFSA application is typically awarded in late February but they're not expected until mid-March this year nationwide because of new financial aid forms that delayed the process.
