(Des Moines, IA) -- The cost of camping in Iowa is going up.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is raising prices for State campgrounds.
The DNR says it's the first price increase since 2021, and ranges from a dollar to six dollars more per night, depending on the park and the amenities.
The DNR says the increase is due to rising operating, sales tax, and inflation costs.
The DNR manages more than 4,000 campsites across the state.
Three-quarters of campsites can be booked ahead of time online through the state reservation website.
The other 25% of sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
