(Johnston, IA) -- Much of Iowa will see precipitation of some form on Sunday. Areas of Des Moines and those south can expect rain, areas north can expect snow, especially in northern and northeastern Iowa.
Travel impacts will affect areas of northern Iowa, especially the stretch of Interstate 35 spanning north of Mason City into Minnesota.
"The snow accumulations through central Iowa are going to be pretty minimal," said National Weather Service Meteorologist Kristy Carter, "so after we have rain with this system that will happen by [Sunday] afternoon and then continue through the day Monday, we'll turn back to snow late Monday night into Tuesday. Carter says another inch of snow is possible by early Tuesday.
Highs are expected to be back in the 40s by Wednesday.
