(Ankeny, IA) -- The city of Ankeny will conduct prescribed burns in specific locations starting Thursday.
The city says the burns will depend on weather and safety conditions, but burns are planned at multiple locations, including:
- South Ankeny Boulevard detention basin
- Midway Park
- Creek Banks in Prairie Trail
- Cherry Glen North Basin
The burns will be conducted under close observation from multiple agencies. The burns are meant to reduce invasive plant species, decrease the threat of wildfires, and improve the overall beauty of parklands.
