Rain, Storms and Colder Temperatures Possible Sunday through Tuesday

(Johnston, IA) -- A weather pattern including rain, thunderstorms, and possible snow moves into the central, southern, and eastern parts of Iowa starting early Easter Sunday. Chances for severe weather will be greater in southern Iowa and especially into Missouri.

According to meteorologist Ashley Bury with the National Weather Service in Johnston, it is due to a long-range low pressure system that could end in colder temperatures and some flakes of snow by Tuesday, though she says snow isn't very likely.

"With these systems typically, it depends on the location, either we would be concerned about rain or snow, depending on where it is," Bury said, "we're still seeing at least the warmer sector we're going to see out of that rain and storms moving through for much of the day." She says colder air will be more likely by Tuesday. Bury also says southern and eastern Iowa could see over an inch of rain out of this system.
