(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The trial of Curtis Padgett is underway.
He's charged with first degree murder in the death of Dennis First in May of 2007 in Cedar Rapids. Police say new leads led them to Padgett after 15 years. Investigators say Padgett was arrested for harassment in 2023 and the was charged with First's death the following day.
He's also a suspect in a missing person's case from 2021.
