(Silvis, IL) -- A boil order has been put in place for residents in Silvis heights until further notice.
The city of Silvis made the announcement on their Facebook page at 10:30 this morning, saying they received notice from the Silvis Heights Water Department, that residents in Silvis Heights north of Crosstown Avenue must boil their water before consuming due to a watermain break that took place on Thursday.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend using bottled or boiled water for drinking and cooking, as the germs can make you sick.
They say you can still wash your hands and bathe in the water, but be careful not to swallow any of it.
Anyone with questions should contact the Silvis Heights Water Department at 309-792-9237.
