(Wapello County, IA) -- Police in Ottumwa say three men tried to break into an ATM machine using chains and a stolen truck. Authorities received a report around 5:43 a.m. Friday morning that someone was trying to break into an ATM located at Meridian Credit Union located on Jefferson Street. Responding officers found that the suspects had hooked chains to the ATM from a vehicle, then had attempted to pull open the door to the ATM or remove it from the ground, according an Ottumwa Police Department statement.
Police later found the vehicle in question, a stolen truck, and discovered it had been taken from hotel parking lot in Oskaloosa. Three suspects were later found trying leave the area in a different vehicle. Ottumwa Police were able to intercept, and took the group into custody near the intersection of N. Court and Highland Avenue.
The men are charged as a result of the investigation:
• Cary Ray Jones JR, age 28, of 4030 Floral Way Ct, Fresno, Texas
• Zachary Bernard Ray, age 32, of 2350 Atascocita Rd., Humble, Texas
• Rayvion Deon Reynolds-Flower, age 23, currently a student at Graceland University in Lamoni, IA (Formerly of Kingwood, Texas)
All three face charges of theft in the 1st Degree, Possession of Stolen Property, and Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, each a Class "C" Felony. Rayvion Deon Reynolds-Flower was also arrested on a warrant out of Texas for Felony Theft of More Than $30,000 but less than $150,000. The group was booked into the Wapello County Jail.
