(Pleasant Hill, IA) -- Cleanup has been ongoing this past week in Pleasant Hill. One week after the storm that spawned multiple tornadoes and caused extensive tree damage, the City says crews have hauled away 350 cubic square yards of debris thus far. Debris collection will resume Monday, to allow residents time to place more debris by the curb.
Residents have been slowly putting the pieces back together. "Trees from the base trunks have come completely up," said resident Lori Dash, "most of them that were bad are pretty much gone, and there's still quite a bit of healthy trees."
Along with the trees scattered and uprooted in the path of the April 26th tornado, at least 18 homes have significant damage.
The City says right now, debris collection is concentrated on the most heavily impacted areas. They also asks residents in a social media post to separate vegetation debris from other damage and garbage, for easier collection.
