(Lincoln, NE) -- "Garner Industries" in Lincoln announces 62 employee layoffs after the April 26th tornado destroyed a company plant in Lancaster County.
In a news release today, "Garner" C-E-O and President Scott McLain says the layoff notices are given in accordance with the Federal Workers’ Adjustment and Retraining Act.
The company says it's providing compensation and health benefits to employees affected by the layoff, and the company has also organized community support, medical, and mental health assistance as well as new employment recruiting opportunities.
The twister destroyed the entire 115,000-square-foot facility, including production, engineering, warehousing, inventory, and office space.
All machine tool, molding, and automation equipment was also destroyed, according to Garner.
