(Atkins, IA) -- A severe weather warning caused a brief evacuation of the special meeting in Atkins last night.

Residents met with members of city council to discuss plans for a new fire station.

The weather warning during the meeting was ironic, as Atkins has been without a firehouse since the old one was destroyed in the 2020 Derecho nearly four years ago.

Disagreements over cost were expressed, but not resolved at last night's meeting.

Atkins Council meets on Monday night. It's not known if the firehouse issue will be on the agenda.
