DES MOINES, Iowa -- Another week marked by heavy rain is continuing to ease drought conditions across Iowa.
This week's US Drought Monitor shows two-thirds of the state is now drought-free.
The only area of Moderate Drought--the lowest drought category--is over Eastern and Northeast Iowa, covering a little more than 20 percent of the state.
The new map also shows Severe Drought is gone from the state.
This week's map does not factor in rain that fell Tuesday afternoon when severe thunderstorms rolled across the state.
That rainfall will be accounted for in next week's Monitor map.
