Three dead after stolen car crashes into tree on South side of Des Moines

Des Moines Police say now three people are dead after a stolen car crashed into a tree on the city's South side on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened on the 600 block of Davis Avenue, about a half mile North of Lincoln High School.

Police spotted a stolen 2013 Hyundai Sonota in traffic just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The stolen car later entered McRae Park, followed by a police car. The Hyundai then left the park and sped away.

Officers found the car crashed less than 10 minutes later. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, two later died at local hospitals. An 18-year old male is hospitalized in critical condition.

An 18-year old and two 15-year old males have been identified as victims of the crash.

All those inside of the stolen car were ejected on impact during the crash.

Police are still investigating.
