(Omaha, NE) -- A new, 100,000 square foot food bank is coming to Omaha.
The Food Bank for the Heartland hosted an official ground breaking Sunday of the $37,000,000 project, joined by its board of directors, community partners, donors and staff.
The new location is on the southeast corner of 84th and L Streets, 5 minutes east of the current facility.
It will offer 104,600 square feet of space, including 77,000 in the warehouse while the current facility has 74,000 square feet of space, with 54,200 in the warehouse.
The Food Bank says the warehouse at the new facility will help serve more people among increasing demand.
The project will be finished in late 2025 or early 2026.
