(Davenport, IA) -- Some Davenport City Council members are having second thoughts about the project to convert 3rd and 4th Street to two-way traffic.

4th Ward Alderwoman Jade Burkholder says the residents she's spoken to don't want the change.

Reconstruction of 3rd Street is scheduled to begin next month while design plans for 4th Street continue.

The city received over 7-million dollars in federal grant money for the project. Mayor Mike Matson feels those funds could be in jeopardy if the city reverses course.

A June 15th meeting has been scheduled to bring new council members who weren't around when the decision was made up to speed on the project, and to decide how to proceed.
