Omaha Police Make Assault Arrest

Omaha Police take a person into custody in connection with an assault.

Officers were orginally called to the area of 25th and D Streets early Thursday on a report of a shooting.

While on the way, the call was changed to a stabbiing.

Police say officers arrived and immediately took the suspect, 20-year old Alberto Gutierrez-Martinez, into custody.

Officers found the victim, 23-year old Franko Martinez-Martinez, with a stab wound to the stomach.

Omaha Fire paramedics took him to a hospital in critical condition, but police say the victim's injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

Officers booked Gutierrez-Martinez at Douglas County Corrections for 2nd-degree felony assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
