(Polk County, IA) -- The Polk County Emergency Management Agency's Extreme Temperatures Plan is in place.
Cooling centers will be available throughout the community in malls, community centers, and libraries across the Des Moines metro to make sure people have a chance to cool down from the high heat. The plan is in place until 8am Wednesday. Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority, or DART, buses will be providing free rides to open cooling centers.
