(Waukee, IA) -- The special census in Waukee is onto the second phase. A spokesperson with the City of Waukee says the online portion is closed, but field representatives have begun knocking on doors. They say about 35% of the city was counted in the online portion. The door knocking is scheduled from now until mid-July. The city says it believes it has gained more than 7,000 residents since the 2020 census, and that waiting until the next scheduled census in 2030 would cause the city to miss out on funding related to the population increase.
