(Iowa City, IA) -- Thirteen dogs and two birds were found dead in an Iowa City home Monday evening. Fire crews say the home had high levels of carbon monoxide. They say it caught fire but that fire put itself out due to lack of oxygen, which left the carbon monoxide behind. Crews were able to save one dog from the home and provide life-saving care. No injuries to the people who live there were reported, but $3,000 in damages were reported to the home.
