Nebraska Inmate Death Investigated

The death of a Nebraska prison inmate is under investigation.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says 66-year old Roger McPherson died at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln.

Corrections says McPherson’s sentence began on January 24th, 2002.

He was serving 50 to 80 years out of Lancaster County for two counts of first degree sexual assault of a child and two counts of child abuse.

Corrections says while the cause of death has not yet been determined, McPherson was being treated for a medical condition.

As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of law enforcement, or while being taken into custody, Nebraska law mandates a grand jury will investigate.
