(Davenport, IA) -- A judge is temporarily halting all lawsuits filed over the deadly partial collapse of a downtown Davenport apartment building last year.

The lawsuits accuse Davenport city officials, the building owner, and contractors of wrongdoing leading up to the May 2023 collapse that killed three people.

A judge wants to wait for a higher court to rule on the city's appeal of his decision that the city doesn't have qualified immunity from the lawsuits.

Qualified immunity would protect city government employees from being sued for liability.
