(Lincoln, NE) -- Members of the Nebraska Army National Guard are assisting the Iowa National Guard with search and rescue operations in northwest Iowa amidst severe flooding. Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen authorized deployment of four Guard members and one UH-60 (Black Hawk) helicopter on Saturday, with the mission lasting through June 24th. The request came from Iowa via the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which allows for mutual assistance between states, with authorization from the Governor.
