Presidential Disaster Declaration approved for five Iowa counties

Five counties are approved for a Presidential disaster declaration following major flooding in Northwest Iowa.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Small Business Administration (SBA) can now provide assistance in Clay, Emmet, Lyon, Plymouth, and Sioux counties.

Residents in these counties can apply for FEMA's individual assistance program, which provides disaster-affected homeowners, renters, and businesses with programs and services to maximize recovery efforts.

Those who suffered property damage can also apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA. Small businesses, agriculture cooperatives, and private, non-profit organizations can also apply for working capital loans.
