(Waterloo, IA) -- There will be a new police chief in Waterloo, pending city council approval.

Rob Duncan, a current captain at the Waterloo Police Department, will become the next chief of police if approved by the city council at its next meeting. Duncan has been a member of the Waterloo Police Department since 1997, and if approved, would replace Chief Joe Leibold.

Leibold was with the department for 34 years before retiring last week.
