(Moline, IL) -- A series of Illinois state tax incentives has been expanded to include Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline.

Illinois State Senator Mike Halpin tells WQAD News 8 that incentives include property tax reductions, sales tax exemptions for construction materials, and a tax credit for restoring historic buildings.

He hopes the program motivates developers to "redevelop old properties, to develop on vacant land along the riverfront, and really kind of revitalize and bring new life into our downtowns and our river communities."

Halpin says the incentives also cover projects already underway like the Downtown Rock Island Revitalization.
