(Rock Island, IL) -- Weapons detectors are coming to three Rock Island schools.

The Rock Island-Milan Board voted last night to spend over 400-thousand dollars on a four-year contract for weapon detection tech at Edison and Washington Junior Highs, and Rock Island High School.

The equipment is expected to be up and running when school starts August 5th.

The board says the advanced equipment can scan a thousand people in 15 minutes.
