Cedar Rapids Man Arrested After Five-Hour Standoff

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar rapids man arrested in Benton County after a five-hour standoff with deputies on Interstate 30.

The standoff started after a reckless driving incident.

The man was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a weapon while intoxicated, and more. The man reportedly consumed 12 beers before driving, with multiple cans found in the car.

The suspect refused to cooperate with authorities and pointed his gun at them during the standoff.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the accident.
