(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A jury has awarded what may be a state-record $35.7-million in damages to a woman injured in a crash with a semi.

A tractor-trailer owned by Cedar Rapids-based Westside Transport, turned in front of 18 year-old Margaret McQuillen's car in the fog on Highway 151 outside Anamosa in 2020.

The top of McQuillen's vehicle was sheared off. She suffered a brain injury, and required numerous surgeries to rebuild her face.

The judge is reducing the award to $26.1-million, and putting it on hold while the trucking company files a motion for a new trial.
