Blue green algae is an issue at Big Creek north of Des Moines and Lake Ahquabi south of Indianola.
There are swimming advisories for e.coli and blue green algae at Lake Darling and Union Grove beaches.
The following beaches have swimming advisories due to e.coli:
Backbone, Beeds Lake, Black Hawk, Denison, Lake Manawa, Lake of Three Fires, Lewis and Clark (Blue Lake), Lower Pine Lake, and Prairie Rose Beach.
Swimming is not recommended due to flooding at George Wyth State Park and all beaches in the Okoboji area.
