Cybercrime Rose 26% In Iowa In 2023

(Des Moines, IA) -- Cybercrime rose 26-percent in Iowa in 2023, and continues to rise according to the State's Attorney General.

As of May 31st, there have been 50 reported data breaches this year in the state.

Late last month, a provider of software services to car dealerships was hacked, disrupting operations at 60 dealerships in Iowa.

Doug Jacobson, director of the Center for Cybersecurity Innovation and Outreach at Iowa State University says cyberattacks are becoming a staple of organized crime.
