(Rock Island, IL) -- A Quad Cities transit system is getting federal funds for electric bus infrastructure. MetroLINK is receiving 10-million dollars to expand their maintenance facility in Rock Island.
Jennifer Jirsch, Manager of Admin at MetroLINK tells WQAD News 8 that the agency will build a dedicated space for the electric bus fleet and the charging equipment.
Hirsch says the federal funds are in addition to 14-million dollars in grants from the state of Illinois to purchase new electric buses and charging equipment.
