Iowa Rainfall Varies Widely in June

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The story of rainfall in Iowa last month depends on where you were.

The Department of Natural Resources says some parts of Northwest Iowa got more than a half-year's worth of rain in the last week of June.

The DNR says Dickenson County's Lake Park--in Northwest Iowa--got more than 18 inches of rain in June, while Southeast Iowa's Rathbun Dam, in Appanoose County, got just under two inches.

June’s statewide rainfall average was just over five inches.

Traditionally, April, May and June are the rainiest months in Iowa.
