One injured in Wednesday night shooting in Des Moines

Des Moines Police are investigating after a shooting sends one person to the hospital.

They say someone showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, leading officers to the scene of the shooting in the 2600 block of Douglas Avenue.

There, they found shell casings, and evidence suggesting an exchange of gunfire took place.

The person who was shot is expected to survive.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
