(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The Cedar Rapids Fire Department is warning residents about a scam asking for donations to a "Fallen Officers" fund.
Police say to just hang up and that the Cedar Rapids Police Department does NOT engage in random phone campaigns to solicit donations.
They say if you want to confirm a fundraising effort, look up a publicly-available number or ask the organization directly if they are engaged in a fundraiser.
