(Waterloo, IA) -- Residents of an apartment building next to a fire station in Waterloo were displaced after a fire broke out. The fire started in Apt. 7 at 1702 Main Street.
Crews were able to rescue a woman from a second-story window using a ladder. The other residents were able to evacuate safely.
The building suffered water damage from the sprinkler system. The American Red Cross provided emergency shelter for the displaced residents.
An abandoned home in Cedar Rapids also started on fire, they were able to stop the fire and save the building from irreparable damaged.
The cause of both fires are under investigation.
