Dubuque Iowa Man charged With Killing His Mother Wants Case To Be Dropped

(Dubuque, IA) -- The Dubuque Iowa man charged with killing his mother back in January is asking for the case to be dropped.

Tyler Dazey is charged with first-degree murder after his mother was found dead in her home with multiple cut wounds to her head, face and neck.

The family dog was also found dead inside the home with a significant head injury.

According to police, Dazey had told them his mother had been practicing witchcraft.

Court documents show Dazey filed motions Friday for the charges to be dismissed.

He had been found incompetent to stand trial in February, however in May, a judge ruled that he is competent.

Jury selection began Tuesday and if convicted, he faces life in prison.
