Polk County Board Of Supervisors Approves Funding For Solar Panel Project

(Polk County, IA) -- Phase one of a Solar Panel Installation Project in Polk County is approved.

The Polk County Board of Supervisors voted at its meeting Tuesday, July 16 to approve funding for the first phase of installing solar panels on three county-owned buildings.

The solar panels would be installed in August at the Polk County Administration, Northside Community Center, and River Place facilities.

The county says the $2.3 million investment is part of its effort to reduce its carbon emissions by 90% by 2040 in Polk County.

The investment will also save $5.1 million in energy costs over the next 30 years.
