(Tiffin, IA) -- The city of Tiffin, and Johnson County have entered an agreement for sheriff's deputies to patrol the city full-time.

Rod Sullivan, chair of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors tells Iowa's News Now it's a smart move on the city of Tiffin's part. He says Tiffin is one of the fastest growing cities in Iowa, but not big enough for its own police force just yet.

The five-year agreement will see the number of deputies patrolling Tiffin full-time increase to six by 2027.

The deal will cost Tiffin taxpayers 430-thousand dollars in 2025, rising to 1.2-million in 2029.
