(Iowa City, IA) -- Fire caused 40-thousand dollars in damages to an Iowa City apartment building. Crews were called to a building at 1958 Broadway at 8:42 a.m. The fire department says everyone got out safely. The fire started in the kitchen of a third-floor unit.
Responding firefighters arrived on the scene four minutes after being dispatched and encountered smoke coming from a third-story window of the three-story apartment complex. Firefighters discovered an active fire in the kitchen of a third-floor unit and brought it under control.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
