Pedestrian Hit, Killed In Des Moines Identified

(Polk County, IA) -- A woman who died after being hit by a pick-up truck this week in north Des Moines has been identified as 37-year-old Nyandiet Magang of Ankeny. The Polk County Sheriff's Office sys based on evidence and witness statements, Magang was walking in the 43-hundred block of NW 2nd Street, when she was hit around 5:30 Wednesday morning. She died at the scene. Investigators say it was raining at the time of the accident and the area is not well lit.

Investigators say the 2024 Chevy Silverado truck was southbound in the inside lake, when the victim entered the travel portion of the roadway from the center line and was hit.
