(Des Moines, IA) -- Nearly 50 Iowa nursing homes owe state taxpayers almost 11-million dollars...
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services says the money is part of a state fee that allows nursing homes to access extra Medicaid cash meant for resident care and caregivers.
An Iowa Capital Dispatch report says West Des Moines-based Accura Healthcare owes the state $3.6 million in unpaid fees.
The state says eight nursing homes are under sanction for failure to pay. Another 41 are on what the state calls a repayment plan.
