(Johnson County, IA) -- The Johnson County Board of Supervisors are about to become landlords.

The Board of Supervisors is buying a 15-unit apartment complex in Iowa City for affordable housing.

Purchase price of the property on Hollywood Boulevard, owned by West Liberty Foods, is 1.7-million dollars.

Johnson County has invested $4.3 million in housing-related efforts in the last fiscal year.

A report released last year by the National Low-Income Housing Coalition showed an average of 18 affordable rental units available per 100 people in Johnson County.
