Cell Phone Battery Causes Omaha House Fire

(Omaha, NE) -- Omaha Fire Department Investigators say a house fire was accidentally caused by a malfunctioning cell phone battery.

OFD says there were no injuries in the early Thursday morning fire at 42nd and Franklin Streets as everyone evacuated before firefighters arrived.

A dog was rescued unharmed, and the fire was quickly extinguished.

The fire department estimates damage at 64-thousand dollars.
