Omaha Harney Street Bikeway To Close With View To Future

The Omaha Mayor's Office says the current Harney Street "Market - to - Midtown" Bikeway will close after the Labor Day Holiday Weekend as streetcar development intensifies.

Message boards will alert bicyclists to the upcoming September 3rd closure, and barricades will be put in place as removal is expected to take about a week.

The City of Omaha says the new permanent protected bikeway will start at Turner Blvd. and will be on Farnam, crossing on 17th Street to Harney, and running to 10th Street.

The bikeway will be on the opposite side of the street from the streetcar route.
