(Clive, IA) -- A Des Moines man has claimed a hefty lottery prize. Paul Freeman won a prize of $25,000 a year for life. He bought his ticket at the Price Chopper on Beaver Avenue. Freeman says he couldn't believe it, and kept checking the numbers at different locations and on his phone just to make sure.

Freeman chose to receive a lump-sum payment of nearly $400-thousand dollars. He says he and his wife will pay off some health care debt and use the rest for retirement investments.

More from the Iowa Lottery:

Freeman is Iowa’s 20th big winner in Lucky for Life since the game debuted in January 2016 in Iowa.

Lucky for Life is a $2 game with drawings each night. Players can win the game’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life by matching all six numbers selected in one of its drawings. The game’s second prize – for matching the first five numbers but missing the Lucky Ball – is $25,000 a year for life. Other prize levels in the game range from $3 up to $5,000.
