New Fire Station Opens In Hiawatha

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- After two years of construction a new fire station is open in Linn County.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Tuesday, August 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hiawatha fire station.

The Hiawatha Fire Department tells Iowa's News Now that the new building will give crews more room to operate, saying calls for service have more than doubled in the past decade.

The new fire station is located at 1550 Stamy Road just south of Tower Terrace Road.
