(Des Moines, IA) -- More than two-dozen animals have been rescued from home in Southern Iowa.
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa says it found 22 dogs and four parrots inside a small home in Wayne County, as well as a donkey outside in a makeshift dog kennel.
The ARL says most of the dogs had matted fur, nails so long they couldn't walk properly, and dental problems.
They say one of parrot was suffering from an old injury while another was unable to be saved due to its health.
